The BEAMS Study

The Belongingness, Exclusion, And Meth and Sex (BEAMS) Study is exploring how online experiences of belongingness and exclusion affect the methamphetamine use of gay, bi, and queer men.

The BEAMS Study

The BEAMS Study is being conducted by Graham Berlin, a PhD candidate in clinical psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University, as part of his dissertation research. The study involves completion of an online questionnaire that takes approximately 20-minutes. Eligible participants will be entered into a lottery for the opportunity to win a $50 CAD or $25 CAD Amazon gift card or can choose to have $5 donated to the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, and Intersex Association (ILGA) by the researchers on their behalf.

You may be eligible to participate if you:

  1. identify as a gay, bi, or other queer-identified man;

  2. have had sex with another man in the past 6 months;

  3. have used methamphetamine recently;

  4. are 18 years of age or older;

  5. live in Canada or the United States; and
